Many amazing works of the ancient greek people like the looming columns throughout all of the greek polis's are still widely known today. Strong emotion was potrayed in much of their artwork. They put the artwork into many different things. One thing that's different is that they had three unique types of columns. The columns all meant different life styles. They put most of there effort and emotions into their artwork.
Literature- Inside greek literature you can find miraculous stories and poems, like the great works of Homer. Homer wrote two very famous books. One was the Illiad and the other was the Odyssey. Another greek writer was Plato . He wrote The Republic, The Apology, and Phaedrus. Also he was a very skilled philosopher. Many men were very skilled in there writing.All of this was part of their everyday life.They could learn to write and create magnificent poetry and stories. Literature was very important.
Pottery- Pottery was plentiful in Ancient Greece. Sometimes a whole job was devoted to making pottery. There was basic kinds of pots and they all had different names. Dinos was a bowl for mixing wine and water. Pyxis was a cosmetic box. Aryballos was a prefume bottle. Kylix was a drinking cup. Most men drank out of nice kylixs. Men had a fine taste for good craftmenship. Kantharos is a double handled drinking cup, like a toddlers cup with two handles. Loutrophoros is a large vase used for the ritual bath of a bride. Lots of people would have their pottery buried with them. Most pots survived in excellent conditions. The way of coloring and painting the pots were affected by the time period they were made in. In the 6th century B.C. vases were in the black figure style. The people were black and the background was a reddish brown shade. Then in the 5th century B.C. they switch over to a red figure style. This was a reverse of the 6th century where in the 5th century the backrounds were black.
Theater- The Greeks mostly did tradgity and comedy in there theater. Men played all of the parts including the women.
